Guangdong Telecom Announces Optimization of Upstream Rate for Fixed Broadband Customers
The following is the announcement from Guangdong联通 regarding optimizing the upstream speed of public family fixed broadband users:Dear users of Guangdong联通:
To provide better service for you, in accordance with Announcement No. 38 of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (2023), and the standard of "Public Fixed Broadband Access Business Upstream Speed Configuration Requirements" (YD/T3328-2023), we have optimized the upstream speed of public family fixed broadband users who use optical fiber connection (including FTTB + LAN). The main content of this optimization is as follows:
For users whose downstream bandwidth is below 200 Mbps, the minimum upstream speed will be configured according to a ratio of 1:5 of the downstream speed.
Example: If your downstream speed is 100 Mbps, then your minimum upstream speed should be 20 Mbps.
For users whose downstream speed is equal or higher than 200 Mbps (inclusive of 200 Mbps), the minimum upstream speed shall be set at 40 Mbps.
Thank you for supporting us with Guangdong联通.
This adjustment is aimed at ensuring that users can enjoy balanced up and downlink speeds, thereby improving their broadband usage experience. If you are a user of Guangdong联通, please note any changes in your broadband rate. If you have any questions, you may contact our customer service for consultation.
According to the optimized upstream speed configuration requirements for different downstream bandwidths provided by Guangdong联通, here are the corresponding configurations for each level of downstream bandwidth:
| Downstream Bandwidth (Mbps) | Upstream Bandwidth (Mbps) |
| --------------------------------- | --------------------------------- |
| 100 | 20 |
| 200 | 40 |
| 300 | 40 |
| 500 | 40 |
| 1000 | 40 |
| 2000 | 40 |
As shown above, when the downstream bandwidth reaches or exceeds 200 Mbps, the minimum upstream speed has been set at 40 Mbps.
