How much is 9 bottles of beer in an hour?

First, I must clarify that it is not me who drank 9 bottles of wine at the dinner. Just heard this from my friend who ate out. It took him an hour to drink 9 bottles. I was thinking that if he had drunk 1 bottle, it would have been equivalent to 4.5 liters. However, someone else in our table didn't believe him and said they had drunk 90 bottles while eating snacks. I wonder whether this is either an act of bluffing or true alcoholism.
