On September 10th, Alibaba Cloud experienced a fire in its data center in Singapore's Region C, which caused major disruptions to the services of key technology companies. The cause of the fire was determined to be a lithium battery explosion. According to foreign media reports, the fire occurred at around 8am on September 10th and lasted for 36 hours until afternoon of September 11th. As of now, most of the cloud products affected have returned to normal operation, but some businesses that rely on the cloud service must wait for physical conditions to recover. "At 20:23 last night, firefighters were still dealing with safety risks in the building, and engineers were waiting for permission to enter the data center," said an official statement from Alibaba Cloud. "If it is not feasible to restore on-site, the emergency group will execute the server equipment relocation and restoration plan." This incident not only disrupted the normal operations of Alibaba Cloud, but also severely impacted other technology companies that were hosting their servers there, such as Lazada and ByteDance.
